Dr. Marcia M. Moore, Therapeutic Optometrist, FOVDR, Diplomate, ABO

Dr. Moore has been a valuable member of our team since 2008, living out her childhood dream of being an eye doctor. She values education and research and excelled academically, graduating Phi Beta Kappa and High Honors from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology and graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Houston College of Optometry. She went on to obtain her Fellowship from the College of Optometry in Vision Development in 2014. She is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry, affirming her training and knowledge in the treatment of eye diseases including glaucoma, diabetes, strabismus and amblyopia.

Dr. Moore has a unique ability to really listen to her patients and help them find the best approach to their personal visual concerns. She enjoys the challenge of helping individuals use their eyes to their fullest potential and finds joy in working with all members of the family. She uses her extensive knowledge in visual function and development to go beyond just prescribing a pair of glasses and seeing 20/20. Her goal is that an individual’s visual system functions optimally in everyday life whether that is for successful school performance, comfort while working on the computer, or elite sports performance.

Dr. Moore has a passion for working with children and adults with neurological or developmental vision challenges. She relies on the support of other professionals to establish a team approach, as the visual system doesn’t operate in isolation. The visual system is built on every aspect of development. Dr. Moore works closely with occupational and physical therapists, reading specialists, neurologists, ophthalmologists, neuro-ophthalmologists, psychologists, play therapists, teachers, pediatricians and ABA specialists.

She also enjoys giving presentations to schools, outpatient care centers, and other professional groups to help expand their understanding of vision, how to identify symptoms, and offer tools for support.

Dr. Moore and her husband reside in Bellaire, where their children attend Condit Elementary School (Go Cats!) and participate in the Spanish Dual Language Immersion program. As a family they enjoy going on adventure trips especially to National Parks and spending time with their plethora of pets including their backyard chickens.
